Hi, I'm Erika! I'm a multi media artist based in Nevada City, California, and I do it all!
I have always been an artist. Growing up in Worthington, Ohio, I was always drawing, painting, crafting, and making things. At school, I was often found begging my art teacher to let me paint during recess.
I began dancing classical ballet and training for a professional career when I was 10 years old. Ballet was an incredible outlet for my love of music, art and performance. I began spending summers away from home at ballet programs when I was 12, and found myself living in New York City the summer before my senior year in high school in a studio apartment with my best friend. Notably absent: parental supervision, cell phones.
When it came time to audition for companies, I faced the reality of a career in dance and transferred my attention to other avenues of artistic expression. After a brief stint at the Ohio State University, I moved to Los Angeles in 2006.
Since then. I have managed to turn every new venture into a creative and personal artistic expression; I NEVER pass up an opportunity to learn a new skill. I've had successful careers as a radio DJ, visual merchandiser, photographer, pastry chef, cake decorator, cheese monger, saxophone specialist and floral artist. In addition, I've created my own businesses as a fitness instructor, cross stitch & embroidery artist, alternative model, illustrator, painter, photographer, and designer.
I once had a friend tell me they wished they were as excited about anything as I am about everything, and it's true! My genuine excitement and passion for life and beauty can be seen in everything that I create, whether it's a realistic, detailed portrait of your beloved pet, a watercolor of Japanese potato chips, an oil pastel of some spooky looking tomatoes, or a playlist for my radio show. Enthusiasm is contagious, and I hope mine comes through in every piece!
